Walmart is issuing a wave of product recalls this week, including one accompanied by a life-threatening health warning.
America’s largest retailer is home to thousands of products and regularly has to issue warnings that some products have been recalled. This generally occurs when the product is deemed a risk to the health and safety of customers. There have been plenty of instances where Walmart has removed something from its shelves for an issue as simple as mislabeling.
This week, however, multiple different products were recalled for different reasons at the same time. This caused a drop in customer confidence and left some users wanting to take their business elsewhere.

Tropicale Foods Helados Mexico and La Michoacana Ice Cream Products
On Friday, Tropicale Foods, based in Ontario, California, announced a voluntary recall of select Helados Mexico and La Michoacana ice cream products. The products were sold at Walmart stores in all 50 states.
The decision to pull the products from shelves at the global superstore was due to a label audit, which revealed that although the products list "cream" as an ingredient, they do not explicitly include "milk," which could put those with an allergy in danger.
The Tropicale Foods recall noted that people “who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products."
Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions, LLC Member's Mark Freeze Dried Fruit Variety Pack
Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions, LLC listed a more concerning product recall, announcing that the Member's Mark Freeze Dried Fruit Variety Pack was recalled due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The FDA reported the recall, writing “although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, a Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”
This product was sold at Sam’s Club, which is owned by Walmart. It was also sold by an extensive list of other supermarkets.
High Noon Beach Variety Packs
The High Noon recall last week made major news headlines, after the company said that some of these packs contained cans that are mislabeled as Celcius, the popular energy drink.
The mix-up put people at risk of mistakenly consuming alcohol, which is incredibly dangerous for minors and individuals who avoid alcohol for medical or religious reasons.
The mislabeled cans were removed from shelves at stores across the country, including Walmart locations in Florida, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Dorel Cosco 2-step kitchen stepper
A recall was issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission for the Dorel Cosco 2-step kitchen stepper - a folding stepstool with a safety bar at the back.
The step was removed from shelves due to the fall and injury risk. According to the company, the safety bar can detach or break while in use, posing serious fall and injury hazards to consumers.
Customers in possession of the kitchen tool were advised to stop using the product at once, and request a free repair kit from Dorel.
